Yo, dude needs to get new friends

If his friends have ZERO reaction to this:

Not cool.
Not even a laugh?? I would've at least put my hand over my mouth like "oh shit!" or to hide the giant fucking grin stretched across my face.

What is it

about being at the gas station 15 minutes before you have to be at work that just pumps you up for the day? -No pun intended
Does anyone else get that feeling? It's like this good feeling seeing everyone else stop to run in and get their coffee or breakfast to get their day going that makes me feel better and gives me this 'Okay, time to seize the day' vibe. Like a realization that takes me back out of my own world to remind me of how much more there is around me, and it motivates me to give the day my best and keep my attitude positive.

I love that feeling; how we can feel so deep in our own lives and issues and relationships, then something as simple as walking around downtown in a crowd of people or staring at the ocean just kinda puts your life on pause and it hits you that there's a whole world out there that has absolutely nothing to do with you (in a good way, of course). A world full of people with their own different issues that make you grateful for the ones you have, because then your problems seem like nothing compared to theirs; or standing on the beach and letting the water touch your toes, reminds you of how small you are in this big world and how much more potential adventure awaits your future. Sometimes when I'm standing there digging my toes in the sand and letting the waves wash it off, I can't help but think that someone on the very opposite end of that ocean is doing the same exact thing, wondering what life is like on my end. It's this immense feeling that pushes me to keep a good outlook on life and keeps me humble even when I feel like my life is crashing down.

So I guess it's good to have those bad mornings; the mornings when you know you should've filled up on gas the night before, but you were too lazy to, so you're then forced to be an extra 8 minutes late (even though you're already running 15 minutes late). But don't stress it... People watch, study your surroundings and let that remind you to be passionate about what you do have and how great you have it 'cause it could be gone in a split second.

Passion rebuilds the world for the youth.
It makes all things alive and significant.

I got served

So apparently I'm not exactly waitressing material... Well at least not for an Asian restaurant with nagging owners and almost all senior citizen clientele. I was about to break an old man hip this weekend.

Friday night after my shift all I could think about is how I didn't want to go in on Saturday afternoon for my next shift, and then realized I was already unhappy with this second job after a week. My second job should be something fun that I enjoy and look forward to go to, not one that I'm dreading. I know not all work is fun, but it should be enjoyable. Especially after hearing another server tell me how miserable he was working there and he hated it, I decided I wouldn't be that way for a few reasons:

1. A server who is not happy with their job, should NOT serve. Bad overall experience for the customers = bad tip or no tip and that's just a waste of everyone's time.
2. I'm expecting a lot of changes for my full time job within the next couple of months and if all goes smoothly with that, I won't need a second job at all.
3. Now I have a whole 9 days of serving experience and I'm off to the next sports bar with my low cut t-shirt on to show off all of my acquired skills.

Okay, that last one is a joke... Unless my full time job screws me over and I have no choice but to go work in a sports bar for some extra cash which kind of sounds fun, but I don't know. What I do know is that I have a whole new level of respect for servers (not that I've ever been a jerk to people who serve), and I tip my hat to you all!

No Matter How Far Wrong You've Gone, You Can Always Turn Around

So I came upon a friend's Facebook status that was quite inspirational to me and I felt the need to share it.
So today's lesson was this: I don't have to be happy with someone to help them. It is my responsibilty to help others. When I was driving home from my "errand" I wanted to cry - not because of anything bad but rather because I rememeber how many people helped me before I got sober (they didn't trust me) but they still helped me. So, is it not my responsibilty to pass that on to someone else? Of course it is. I am grateful to be sober and to have loving friends in my life and what I want these people to know is that there is Hope! That despite their best thinking and actions - there are people who care and who will help! I hope they get the message and I hope they get this deal. But today I get the message and I am willing!!! -K.W.

I have never struggled with a drug addiction myself or maybe you haven't, but I'm pretty sure we all know at least one person who is that is near to our hearts. I don't know what her "errand" was in this status, but this made me realize that we should never give up on those who are struggling with addictions. I personally know how it feels to be emotionally drained from someone who struggles with an addiction, and how you reach the point where you want to just give up on trying for them because you feel like they are not trying for themselves.
Don't do it, don't ever give up on them. It is our responsibility to love, support and believe in one another.

Over the last month, I've been through some experiences that made me realize we're only here for a certain amount of time. Use your time doing good for others and never stop believing that people cannot turn their lives around no matter how far they've gone down the wrong path.

Life can seem meaningless if we have no one to love us, so love those in need like there's no tomorrow.

Straight Today, Gay Tomorrow

Really? I mean there had to be at least one moment in his straight Rugby playing life where he checked out his teammates junk in the shower and thought he'd like to have some of that. Some feeling deep down inside of him (pun intended) that always steered him towards men but he just refused to believe it, then used waking up from a coma as a legit excuse to live his life the way he really wants to. And he should... but I wouldn't buy that he was completely straight before the stroke.

If I were to ever wake up from a coma, an Australian accent would be an awesome surprise.

We're in our TWENTIES!

Recently my best friend's favorite saying is "but we're in our twenties", like if we're supposed to have it all figured out by the time we're 25 and not be making stupid decisions, especially about men. I told her we should probably cherish it while we can before we hit our 30's and her response was : "WHAT, you're crazy. We're gonna be freaking fabulous in our 30's, hubby's and kids and we're still gonna look fly".... So that means now is the time to make all of our mistakes and be stupid cause we're going to be boring and miserable with offspring clinging to our legs at every.second.of.every.day.
Well at least that's what she thinks, I'm not making myself any promises for my 30's with the whole Hubby & Kids package.

Away from Fantasy Island and in my opinion, my twenties seem to be nothing but a "Trial and Error" life stage. We're legal adults with child thoughts and actions. And we're learning that our actions and decisions have life lasting consequences and only we are responsible for them. We're learning that being that independent adult we've always wanted to be, isn't 100% awesome as we thought. Sure we can stay up as late as we want and drink as much alcohol as we want, but we have to get up for WORK the next morning because we are now paying for our own shit like cars and homes if we'd prefer not to be homeless. The paycheck you get from your awesome job is only glorified for a few days, till more than half of it goes to bills. Then you gotta learn how to stretch out the little of that check that is left, for two WHOLE weeks and manage to go out and do something fun but not too pricey. Oh yeah, that credit card you got approved for when you were big & bad and 18, should probably be paid on time and more than the minimum payment if you ever want credit to get a place of your own or a nicer car than the hooptie your parents bought you when you were 16 that is now 12 years old.

Recently, another friend and I were chatting about how being responsible sucks and makes us poor, so I told her "We're gonna look back at us one day and laugh at how poor we were... Hopefully that day is Friday aka PAYDAY!" Which seems like it's every other week I feel that way. I've learned moving in with friends isn't always the best idea like everyone says... especially when your roommate doesn't pay their rent which then results to shit credit. I'm learning that sometimes super cute shoes are more important than a week's worth of lunch food, especially when you're trying to diet (do the math people). I've learned that we cannot eat all the junk food we once did, now we have to count every single calorie. I've learned that guys can gossip just as much as girls and it takes most of them longer to mature than women. I've learned that there's just some guys that you should stay far away from, but you won't because Danger is your middle name. And I've learned that being in our twenties, we're old enough to know better, yet we're young enough not to care.

Hey, we're in our twenties, it's all good! At least we'll have memories to entertain our thirty year old brains with.

Good judgment comes from experience.
Experience comes from bad judgment.

Day Three

Day 3: Eight things that annoy you.

.1. The old lady who repeatedly calls my phone almost every other effing day then apologizes cause she has the wrong number. I even blocked her calls but she still leaves me a voicemail of nothing. GRRRR!!

.2. Those who choose to complain every chance they get about every single damn thing that happens to them because they think life should be perfect. Then as if listening to them isn't bad enough, they think your world should jolt to a stop too because "OMG their car battery died because their car is like so 5 years ago!!!!!" Shut the front door! You're lucky you even have a car!! It amazes me how ungrateful some people are for all the opportunities and luxuries we have in this country, yet they still want to complain about what they don't have. Shit happens, move forward!

.3. Sports fans of California teams. Enough said.

.4. Pop Radio. -unless I'm going out dancing, then it pumps me up so I can perfect all those moves I've been practicing in my mirror.

.5. People who have that gay ass "Not Cal" sticker on their vehicles. Really? You hate California so much you're going to put up a sticker on your car that still says Cal in it?? You showed them.

.6. Looking at my bank account on Monday morning.

.7. People who take one look at a person and make fun of them for anything and everything. Whether it's the clothes they're wearing, their weight, or their physical features. Grow up!

.8. Facebook... it's like that idiot guy I can't stay away from.
