Break Ups

Via
Believe me, I would love to be one of those people who's all:
"We loved, thank you. You've enriched my life. Now go, prosper."

But I'm much more:
"We didn't work out. You need to not exist."

Viva la tomboy!!

So I have a few confessions for y'all this Wednesday.

Okay my first confession which may or may not be a shocker, is that I've always been somewhat of a tomboy most likely due to the fact that I grew up with the boys. I was brainwashed that girls can and will be  toyed with by a boy they like so I needed to beat them to their own game and if I liked a boy, the best way to show him was to just be a jerk. Also, never let my brothers/ cousins find out about him for the sake of his life. Another "important lesson" I learned from their manner was that my feelings should never be expressed (especially if they're sentimental) because that would be considered whining or just inappropriate.
But besides all of this information my brain was soaking up like a sponge in water, I've always enjoyed doing things boys like to do. I played outside allllllllll day, rode around on Rollerblades or bikes, played out war scenes, and I was obsessed with walkie talkies and Hot Wheels & their awesome tracks. Even in high school, I would watch ESPN for an hour without realizing that none of my brothers or their friends were even around, so I could've actually changed the channel if I wanted to, but I didn't. I remember I would always steal my brother's shirts and wear them cause they were way more comfortable than the tight and figure flattering clothes girls were supposed to wear. Then I would get a Charley horse when they couldn't find their shirt the next day or spotted me in school walking around in it. It didn't make sense to me to get dressed super cute for school just so I could sit all day uncomfortably instead of in a loose & cozy T-shirt, so I chose to be comfy at the expense of my brothers not having many clean shirts and my legs being bruised up for a day or two.
Yeah, this was pretty much me back in the day.
Even though a little bit of that tomboy still lives inside me, I still have my ultra girly moments like squealing over a insanely cute pair of heels that I tell myself I MUST have or hoard numerous amounts of eyeshadow and nail polishes or just being a shopaholic. But today I felt the tomboy in me make an extreme comeback, read on...

Well, this morning I had a big breakfast so of course by the time lunch was upon me I was still not hungry (don't worry, that's not my other confession). In times like this I always head to the nearest shopping plaza to get out of the office and "window shop" to get an idea of what I want to purchase when I do have money to splurge (I quoted window shop because sometimes I reason with myself that a pair of pants or shoes are truly more important than eating lunch for a week. I know, I have a problem; tell me something I don't know).
I digress as usual; Okay so now that summer is upon us in this lovely city of Phoenix, I have been trying to find non-work attire that covers pretty much just the basics (boobs & butt) because when it's 106 degrees outside like today, I could walk around in a bikini (if I was comfortable enough to) and still feel like I have too much clothing on. -What's with all the parenthesis in my sentences? I don't know, I have a lot of side notes for you. You're welcome-
So today I did something I haven't done since my high school days... I shopped for MYSELF in the young men's section (there it is finally, 2nd confession)!! It was honestly a little surprising at how much neon pink, purple and orange was on the racks, but I guess those are just fun summer colors that anyone can wear. Also, it was kind of funny going into the fitting room at the same time as some teenage boy with almost the same exact shirt he was trying on. But yes, I did get a couple of tank tops to sport around this summer that are still figure flattering (just not holding onto my torso for dear life, which will make me even more hot and cranky) that I can throw a cute cami under to have that spiffy surfer girl look.

This is definitely one reason I'm glad I am a girl, 'cause I don't know how many straight men can walk into the Junior's or Women's sections in a store and find something that will look good on them... well, besides skinny jeans lol.

Perfect tomboy weekend attire

Please Allow Myself,

To introduce... Myself

Hey there, remember me? I know it's been quite sometime since I've actually posted some thoughts, words and pictures of my own on here, but I'm not sorry... you bitches ain't nobody!!!!
Totes Kidding!!!  You guys (whoever you are, as in most likely ONE person) are awesome and I am very sorry because I know you can't live another day without my wise words to guide your life.... right down the drain.

Anyways, this year has already slapped me sideways and tossed me around like a one dollar hooker in Vegas, but I'm enjoying it. Guess I finally know what I want to do with my life now... So since my last sincere post was about New Years resolutions and getting this mess of a life together, I figured I'd update y'all on just a few of my goals and achievements:
  1. Go to church EVERY Sunday - Not proud of myself on this one, it's been 4 or 5 weeks since my last church appearance.
  2. Exercise at LEAST 4 times a week and eat healthy - another disappointment; this week I'm back on track after my birthday month celebration (don't judge, there's no reason you should celebrate your birthday for ONE day) and have taken it upon myself to deactivate my "social internet life" that way I can focus on my goal and not be distracted by all the fun everyone else will be having, while I'm just eating salads & sweating like a pig... I want to cry thinking about it, but I can cry when I'm a skinny bitch.
  3. Get my financial stabilities together - This is one goal that I have accomplished and have been doing pretty good with. I even got myself a part time waitressing job that I start this weekend (raising the roof y'all) so I can finally have a shithole apartment to call my own. Fingers crossed that I don't get fired on day one!
  4. Limit my alcohol intake to special occasions - Like most of my other goals, I only lasted a good month and a half on this one. I have been drinking almost every weekend and family event since February and that's not good folks! So since I'm going to be in my own little world of full time work, exercise, part time work and sleep for the next couple months I'm not going to have time for any alcohol intake and that is fabulous. Oh yeah, and I didn't puke on my bday celebration night! Holler!
  5. Read more books - Honestly, the last book I read was the booklet attached to the liquor bottle I was drinking out of... the shame
  6. No Douchebags - Well, this one I've aced because I've managed to block out any and all men that approach me. I should probably start responding to them soon before I am told "I heard you were a lesbian now" again... yes AGAIN, I was told that by an old friend I ran into about a year ago. I should've maneaten his ass to let him know that I'm strictly dickly!
So, now you know my year has been fairly decent & eventful and is only getting better from here!! Blink 182 wasn't messin' around with that song Dammit lol
Hope you guys have done better in the New Year Resolution department than I have!!

Exes & Oh's hoes!

Oh yes he diiiiiiiid

So I have no idea who Andrew WK is or what music he makes, but he sounds like a keeper.

Advice Seeker: I’m dating a guy who refuses to give up on his dreams of rock stardom. While it’s admirable in a way, I need a little bit more stability if we’re going to make this work. How can I gently break this to him?
Andrew WK: Don’t you dare say anything to him about giving up his dream. You’re not the right person for him. Never ask someone to give up on their dream just so you can feel more stable. It’s his choice and his choice alone, no matter how ridiculous his dream may seem to you, or to society, or even to himself. Dreams make humans into self-realized individuals. Your only responsibility is to love everything about him, including his dreams. The idea of “making this work” sounds more like a way to make his life more boring and predictable. At worst, it’s a genuine sadistic desire to control someone else because your own life feels out of control — or a cruel need to dominate and break someone’s spirit for the sake of your own peace of mind. Look for stability and peace of mind inside yourself, and not in your relationships or the dreams of others

Now THIS is great reality TV

Blind Date!!
I was scrolling through The Frisky when I was reminded how much I enjoyed this show when it was aired regularly. Bring it back CW!! Wasn't CW formerly UPN?
Anways, for all of you tweens who have no idea what TV was like in the 90's, the title of the show pretty much sums it up. Two strangers are arranged to go on a blind date (get it?!) and spend what seems like an entire day together (unless one of them really can't stand the other & dips early) doing activities, talking & learning about each other (sometimes) that leads to many awkward moments. They are then given lots of alcohol which REALLY brings out their true personalities and at the end of the date they either exchange phone numbers or emails (not webpages) or go home with each other. The best part is the little pop up bubbles with comments.
Anyways, this episode is great. You must watch it... or I want my friendship bracelet back.

First clue that this is a 90's show: his COUCH. Check out that baby. I think we all knew someone with a couch like that back in the days, wood grain on straight uncomfortable fluffy heaven.
My favorite awkward moment is how he gets really quiet when she asks him why he doesn't drive. Then she asks him about how many interesting" car accidents he's been in... WTH, who says that while driving someone around? I'm surprised he didn't ask her to pull over. Wait, why did the producers of the show even give her a set of keys???
It's probably pretty obvious by their first outing that he is going no where with her. If this guy is way too weird for even THIS woman, he's got to be a serial killer by now.

Gee Whizz

Everyday I read that more and more single people are confessing that they don't see themselves getting married or settling down. Our generation has reached the point where we believe it is better to be successful in our careers than to be successful emotionally. What the hell is happening to us? Like I know we're going through this economic recession and money problems get people down, dating is expensive, but is it really consuming our wallets and our hope? Are we living through an economic recession or is it an emotional recession?
Maybe it's not the economy. Maybe it's our generation. Our parents and grandparents grew up to believe that a successful life was about falling passionately in love with someone, having great friends, starting a family, and having a good job to support your loved ones. I feel like now it's all backwards and so many people have given up on finding someone to feel passionately about because our main priority is to "succeed" with a career then if we have time, we'll find someone who will love us. I understand that people want to have financial stability which requires education and hard work, but are we being so brainwashed to be workaholics and money focused that we are forgetting the meaning of life? I was raised to believe that you surround yourself with those you love and you find a way to make it through thick and thin, but the main thing was to Love. Maybe I'm sounding like a complete hopeless romantic right now, but I refuse to give up on finding love.
I guess that's what I get for watching stupid romantic comedies... Whatever.

If your ex ever tells you that you will never meet another like them, tell them GOOD!

That's the point.

Change

I was thinking about my Deal Breakers post from the other day and realized that sometimes after your new manfriend has had enough of playing his Prince Charming role, he might show his true colors and start to act like one of those guys. Then what do you do? Leaving just can't be THAT easy!!! I mean, you've dated him for a whole month and a half and have invested WAY too much time & feelings!! So you're best option is to stick around and wait for him to change.

Sure relationships change people after time, they are supposed to and they're supposed to change both people for the better. But you don't go into a relationship with someone you don't really like expecting to change their personality to your liking. Would you buy a horse and expect it to turn into a freaking unicorn? No, cause it's a horse!
It's so sad to think that people stay in relationships in hopes to change the other person or just wait around for that person to change. Instead of just saying "Well I tried, and you tried, and it's apparently not working so let's go our separate ways", they choose to stick around and try to "fix" this person themselves. The worst part is that some women think this change that will be brought on by consistent nagging, measly threats and holding back the vagina. Which is obviously not going to make either partner in this relationship any happier. Or maybe they ignore it; they stay in complete denial that they are bothered with their partner's actions and act as if nothing is wrong and then they marry that person to live happily ever after.

A while ago I dated this guy who was cool to hangout with and had a dry sense of humor which I admire, but I noticed that his "dry humor" I once thought was silly and admirable, started turning into him just being an asshole. All the time. The night I had enough of it was when he picked a fight with me, accused me of being mad at him when I was definitely not, then when I told him I wasn't mad, he insisted I really was and after me saying "Well now I'm starting to get mad cause you're annoying me" he gave me the good old "Fuck you" and hungup on me. Yeah, this really happened! A 28 year old man told me "Fuck You" over absolutely nothing. Well that was definitely the deal breaker. Afterwards, I just thought to myself  "Ok, you want to go ahead and give me the 'Fuck You', well now that's definitely never happening and you can go ahead and fuck yourself'.
After about twenty something texts and God knows how many rejected calls later I finally agreed to speak to him. When I told him that it just wasn't going to work he gave me the whole "I know I can be harsh, but I'll change for you" speech and I just straight out told him "No thanks". I explained that I wasn't there to change him, and that "asshole" (I didn't use that term) was who he was and I wasn't going to deal with that because I didn't have to.

If you start dating someone and you find characteristics that you just really do not like about them, then move on to someone else. It is really that simple. There is no need to stick around and compromise your feelings. That's who they are, so leave and find someone who is more suitable for you. Why? Because you are a grown ass adult, now act like one. They will eventually find someone who likes them just the way they are, or more than likely they will realize no one likes those characteristics about them and change it themselves. The only change you can make, is your partner.

Change comes from within... not from someone else bugging the shit out of you.

Deal or No Deal?

I came across this Glamour article today about the hanging testicles men like to put on the back of their trucks and all I have to say is: Why, men? Just... Why? Anyways, the article also mentions a "No Fat Chicks" sticker, which I would be completely fine with if there was a "No Small Dicks" sticker for women's cars. But even if there was one, we wouldn't use it. Maybe stick it to the front of our bedroom doors, but we most certainly wouldn't have the audacity to place one on our cars. Why? Because we are women and we have class and we'd like to date someone, someday.

This started making me think about my deal breakers for guys who I wouldn't date, and I know what you're all thinking... YES I have standards! Ugh... Read on for some I could think of.
  • The man cruising down the streets, windows down while it's 100+ degrees out, stereo blasting, wearing the "I Love Haters" hat. Ok, really any man who wears anything that says that. Even a key chain with this will disqualify him.
  • The man who constantly talks about himself and all of his accomplishments or life struggles he's overcome. Get a diary or a dog.
  • The man who is at the strip club every.single.week. Perverted much!
  • The man who is a Negative Ned and extremely bitter towards all women. Sounds like someone's just been dumped!
  • The man who likes to brag about all the money he spends "at da club, poppin' bottles of henny". Way to be humble and attract gold diggers.
  • The man who is a jerk to his own friends... a relationship between the two of you isn't looking very promising.
  • Mama's boys who are proud of being Mama's boys.
  • The man who still lives with his ex girlfriend.
  • The man driving around with either the No Fat Chicks sticker or the No Small Dicks sticker.
And my favorite deal breaker of my BFF's:
If he buys you a Toyota Corolla with a big red bow on it. I mean...

WHO buys someone a TOYOTA COROLLA!?
ESPECIALLY with a big red bow on it like it's a Mercedes Benz or something?
Now THAT, is an acceptable gift that says 'I would like to date you'.
(Yes, my friend is a spoiled little Arabic Princess in case you were wondering.)

I'm sure there are some more deal breakers I just can't think of right now, so if you have any good ones, feel free to share :)

We're in our TWENTIES!

Recently my best friend's favorite saying is "but we're in our twenties", like if we're supposed to have it all figured out by the time we're 25 and not be making stupid decisions, especially about men. I told her we should probably cherish it while we can before we hit our 30's and her response was : "WHAT, you're crazy. We're gonna be freaking fabulous in our 30's, hubby's and kids and we're still gonna look fly".... So that means now is the time to make all of our mistakes and be stupid cause we're going to be boring and miserable with offspring clinging to our legs at every.second.of.every.day.
Well at least that's what she thinks, I'm not making myself any promises for my 30's with the whole Hubby & Kids package.

Away from Fantasy Island and in my opinion, my twenties seem to be nothing but a "Trial and Error" life stage. We're legal adults with child thoughts and actions. And we're learning that our actions and decisions have life lasting consequences and only we are responsible for them. We're learning that being that independent adult we've always wanted to be, isn't 100% awesome as we thought. Sure we can stay up as late as we want and drink as much alcohol as we want, but we have to get up for WORK the next morning because we are now paying for our own shit like cars and homes if we'd prefer not to be homeless. The paycheck you get from your awesome job is only glorified for a few days, till more than half of it goes to bills. Then you gotta learn how to stretch out the little of that check that is left, for two WHOLE weeks and manage to go out and do something fun but not too pricey. Oh yeah, that credit card you got approved for when you were big & bad and 18, should probably be paid on time and more than the minimum payment if you ever want credit to get a place of your own or a nicer car than the hooptie your parents bought you when you were 16 that is now 12 years old.

Recently, another friend and I were chatting about how being responsible sucks and makes us poor, so I told her "We're gonna look back at us one day and laugh at how poor we were... Hopefully that day is Friday aka PAYDAY!" Which seems like it's every other week I feel that way. I've learned moving in with friends isn't always the best idea like everyone says... especially when your roommate doesn't pay their rent which then results to shit credit. I'm learning that sometimes super cute shoes are more important than a week's worth of lunch food, especially when you're trying to diet (do the math people). I've learned that we cannot eat all the junk food we once did, now we have to count every single calorie. I've learned that guys can gossip just as much as girls and it takes most of them longer to mature than women. I've learned that there's just some guys that you should stay far away from, but you won't because Danger is your middle name. And I've learned that being in our twenties, we're old enough to know better, yet we're young enough not to care.

Hey, we're in our twenties, it's all good! At least we'll have memories to entertain our thirty year old brains with.

Good judgment comes from experience.
Experience comes from bad judgment.

BFF Rule

Every girl needs this from her Best Friend

If I ever start updating my Facebook indirectly towards a stupid boy with anything similar to the following statuses...

"Done playing nice. Two can play this game.
Going to finish my day of great Lol"

"So ready for a BETTER week! NO more letting shit get to me,
HAPPY with what I got!"

"I'm MATURE enough to forgive you, but I'm not DUMB enough to trust you again."

It is YOUR job to take my Facebook away from me & change my password until I am ready to update my normal shenanigans again.
Ladies, we do NOT need to remind ourselves via Fb updates of this shit.

Tip for the fellas

Dating Tip: If you ask a girl to go out with you on a date, do NOT be a lazy ass and ask her what she wants to do.
What the hell is up with some of you guys? Since when did men start thinking a first date does not involve dinner and then some sort of fun activity (NOT a movie) after? Or when did you start thinking that it's her job to think of what to do?? Don't make her sit there and think of where she wants you to take her, put your grown man chonies on and take initiative to at least make dinner plans then see where the night takes you from there.

Thank you!!!!

Words of Wisdom

There is not TIME in your DAY to remind someone of how wonderful you are. And not in the Tyra Banks Disney Channel movie self-empowerment way, either. In the factual way. In the way that if someone does not speak French, and you are walking around speaking French all day long, it’s just not a fair exchange. You do not have TIME on this EARTH to tread water and slow down to educate some idiot re: why you’re an asset and a treasure and an honor to be around. If he can’t figure it out, he’s a moron.
Done.
Next.
It’s actually that easy. And I know it doesn’t always feel like it, but goddammit you need to fall in love with someone who looks at you and is like, “Holy crap, here is the human! Here is the human that is different from all of the other humans!” and if you’re fucking around with anything less than that, then you’re wasting your own time more than anything else, and as your friend I’m just not going to stand for it. This guy does not love you. You don’t even love him, you just want him to like you because WHY DOESN'T HE?
But at the end of the day, fuck it, my angel.
Fuck it, and fuck him, you do not have TIME in your DAY to solve extra credit math problems.
You are too busy being wonderful.

Bad Romance

I believe the biggest mystery to us all is the human heart. We've all been in that shitty relationship that has this immense force over us leaving us powerless to get up & leave for our own well being. Some of us stay because we think it will get better, some stay because we're scared of having to start all over with someone new and venture into the unknown, and some of us stay because we would rather be with an asshole and feel a constant pain of love than to be alone & feel nothing at all. Maybe it's all of those reasons. Whatever your reason for staying, you learn that Love is a powerful drug we are all junkies for... And just trying to get your fix can turn you into a ray of sunshine or into a cloud of sorrow.

“The human heart dares not stay away too long from that which hurt it most. There is a return journey to anguish that few of us are released from making.” - Lillian Smith
